Would like to stay at B&B outside London but near subway so that we can visit London to tour. Any suggestions at what area would be really good for this............Thanks ken.
There are tons of places, but one that I recommend is Richmond. It is the last stop on a subway line- West (also has train service); the small town itself feels very rural witgh a green in the middle of town and a large Royal park (richmond Park) with tons of space and deer. Or possibly try harrow- again out West, small town, harrow school
You might want to check out the Kew Gardens area. Kew is just outside Richmond. It is on the District Tube Line (I think). Lovely small village atmosphere.
The main problem I have with the west London suburbs is that they are under one of the flight/landing paths into Heathrow. I suppose the people living there are used to it but I notice the noise when I visit which is a shame because there are some nice places around there. The Queen at Windsor doesn't seem to mind!
Further to Linda's post (immediately above): They say one of the commonly asked questions from tourists at Windsor Castle is, "Why did they build the Castle so close to the airport?"
