Hi - We will be flying into Heathrow in April and taking the trian to Cornwall the next day from Paddington. Would like a decent B&B or hotel not too far form Paddington that is very economical. Suggesstions? Thanks. J. Blake
Cheap is a relative term. Please advise what the definition is to you. Will help us advise of places near Paddington AND Heathrow.
Julia - Try the Falcon Hotel @ www.falcon-hotel.com
Try "The Edward Hotel" We got a great deal there on a family room in 2006. It was decent, just around the corner a block or 2 from the station, and a great Italian restaurant across the street. D.
As for what I mean by economical - in 2010 we stayed at the Celtic Hotel in late June for just a bit over $100 (no private bath), and it was fine. Not sure if prices have gone up. We would stay at Celtic again but are just passing thru London and want to be in easier reach of Paddington for the train. Thanks for all your help. Julia
Try Lancaster Hall. It is 10 min. from Paddington and just a few minutes from Hyde Park and Lancaster Gate tube stop. It is 87 pounds for 2. They have a good breakfast. We have stayed there several times and will be staying there again in late Sept.
Julia - We're staying near Paddington for one night, two weeks from now (we have a super early flight to catch and liked staying outside of the airport). We went with a small, very economical hotel - Tune Hotel. Its close to the station, it has everything we need (even if it is tiny).. and best of all, only £67/night ($104)! Our rate does include £10 for early arrival and £7 for wi-fi, tv, etc. so you could get it even cheaper!
We stayed at Tudor Hotel which is a block or 2 away from Paddington Station. It was 117 pounds for 2 in July, very small room, ensuite, good breakfast, fantastically helpful, friendly staff. That's quite a bit more than you said, but we found that the convenience was worth it for 1 night. It might be cheaper in April.
