It's been about four years since I've flown, but I'm trying to find a flight from Charlotte, NC to Dublin, round trip in April or March and so far the cheapest quote I've found has been around $1000 per person. In 2007 I booked a multi-flight trip from Atlanta to China, to Rome, and then home from Edinburgh for only $1100 in the summer. I know fees have increased prices, as well as fuel costs, but I'm curious what others have found and if there is a better, cheaper month to fly (other than the winter)?
Becky, where are you searching for your flights. While flights have gone up, $1000 seems too high for March / April, but that does depend on your dates. For example, flight prices will often be higher if you do not include a Saturday night stay. Try using kayak.com to search for flights and see what you get. I just picked a random week in April (april 3 to 10) for CLT to DUB and I'm seeing flights for $579.
Just booked rt air from Minneapolis, MN to Dublin in April for $1,465 for 2 people all taxes and charges included. This is the total cost. Airline is US Airways.
Becky, I've seen rates for US Airways from Charlotte in March for less than $600 round trip to London. I'm sure you could get a cheap Ryan Air or Easy Jet flight from there to Dublin.
I just went to sidestep.com and randomly plugged in March 29 -April 5 from Charlotte to Dublin, and found a flight for $636 on US Airways. Plugged in April 13-29 and got a price of $639 on Delta. Both prices included all taxes and charges.
That seems way too high!! I just booked a trip for Charleston to London, and then from Venice to Charleston (5/9-5/31) for $694.50 per person including all fees from American Airlines. I found it on kayak. I would keep looking :)
I found a round trip ticket on Aer Lingus from Portland to Dublin March 26-April 10 for $691....really a good price from the West Coast, so East coast should be cheaper! Prices seem to be improving! Good luck! D
