ATMs in rural Ireland

I'm finding that most of my B&Bs require to be paid in cash. I don't want to carry a lot of cash around for days on end. So I'm wondering what the ATM availability will be for towns like Kilkenny, Cobh, Dingle. Not too worried about Galway and obviously not a problem in Dublin. Also, do the PIN #s there require six digit or four digits?

ATMs and Banks are almost everywhere except for the smallest villages.

You need a 4 digit PIN and be sure to call your bank before you leave on your trip to let them know you'll be using the card in Ireland

You will definitely find ATMS in Kilkenny, Cobh, and Dingle. If there is a bank, there is an ATM.

We used ATMs in Ireland without any problems. Our cards, which were the regular ones we use at home, have a six digit pin. We found that some ATMs for some obscure reason didn't accept your card, but another one a few metred down the road did??

You will NOT have any problem finding an ATM. You might have a problem obtaining enough cash in just one withdrawal if you are trying to cover a stay of several nights so you have to anticipate how much you'll need and stay within your daily maxium.

Be sure to advise your ATM company of your travel plans and check with them about the daily maxium. Sometimes they can be increased on a temporary basis. If you are traveling with a spouse who has a separate card linked to the same bank account that card may have a different number and therefore an additional maxium daily withdrawal.

In any case, you'll want a numeric pin of four digits.
