Our Chase ATM debit card worked in Paris and Italy last year. Was very handy. Anything different about London which would indicate the card won't work? Thanks!
If you're pin number is 4 digits then no.
It will work fine. I suggest you have two different accounts with debit cards in case you have a problem with one.
Just don't forget to tell your bank that you're going to England. Otherwise they might put a block on your card when they see a foreign transaction.
We used our Bank of American ATM card at Barclay's, and had no fee (just a 1% conversion charge). Chase wanted like 3% conversion charge plus a $5 per transaction fee. Too much! So we avoided using our Chase ATM card in London. And as we had a Barclay's bank steps away from our apartment in South Kensington it was never a hassle to withdraw money.
We too used our BofA debit card at Barclay's to reduce costs. We did this in 2009. Barclay's is the BofA Global Alliance partner in England. We now have a Schwab Bank debit card and thus far, there is absolutely no fees or charges onto the transactions. This includes the VISA feature which we have also used.
Claudia- I used my ATM cards in 2009 in Paris and I had read in this website that pin should be 4 numbers. I will be visiting London early next year- you are saying that London ATM's the pin have to be 6 numbers? Thank you-
I think Claudia meant that if your PIN is four numbers, you will have no problems.
We used our Capital One debit card in London and other parts of the UK two years ago and they do not charge a fee for using them and refund any ATM fees you may acquire. We had no problem anywhere using it.
I get it. Thank you Nancy.
