We will be in stockholm for 3 days in June. My husband is elderly and uses a walker with wheels. What area/hotel is best to stay in for access to other areas as it looks like a walking city. Thanks.
My wife and I spent four days in Stockholm this past summer. Stockholm is indeed a great walking city. I would recommend staying somewhere near the waterfront/harbor area in the Nybroplan vicinity or near the Opera. If you are planning to make use of public transportation, the area is convenient to the T-bana subway stations, the tram, and the harbor shuttle ferries. The area has the other important advantage (for someone using a walker) of being flat. As you move away from the harbor area, the terrain slopes distinctly upward. The gradient is not as severe as San Francisco, but it is very noticeable.
