I just saw this posted on Trip Advisor's London Forum. Those planning on using the 2-for-1 deals associated with Travel Cards sold by the National Rail offices might want to take a Passport sized photos with them - just in case! If you are a AAA member you can get them free there, and there are lots of other places to get them cheaply. " 7 day paper travelcards " Apr 24, 2012, 12:36 PM Spotted a notice in my local train station stating ' From 20th May , all paper 7-day travelcards require a photocard. We will not be able to issue 7-day travelcards without a photocard'.
Anyone wanting a paper 7-day travelcard will need to provide a passport size photograph for the photocard."
Toni, I'm trying to confirm this big change. I've not seen any notices to staff at work, and I've checked TfL and ATOC where I would expect to see it, both for staff and public. Do you have more specifics, Toni? Perhaps your source had particularly early notice?
One of the replies on the Trip Advisor post included this link www.southwesttrains.co.uk/seasontickets.aspx If you want to see the whole post http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g186338-i17-k5359123-7_day_paper_travelcards-London_England.html Note-
One person says that the UK "passport sized photo" is a different size from USA ones. What is the UK size?
Toni, There used to be photo booths in most of the rail stations in London. I'd guess that there still are since a photocard has always been required for the longer season passes.
BUMP
Thanks for the info, Toni! Kristen
That seems straightforward, Toni. Its nice they tell the public before they tell the staff LOL. I haven't seen that on other TOC websites yet, Southwest Trains must be leading the charge...
UK passport photos must 35mm by 45mm. See http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitecontent/applicationforms/visa-photo-guidance.pdf
Toni, your AAA does passport photos for free? Wow, mine charges $7.95 (and yes, that's for members). I always thought AAA's were all the same, guess you learn something new every day.
