Does anyone have suggestions for a rental firm in London for furnished apartments? Right now, NY Habitat has only four offerings for four nights in August for our requirements (two-bedrooms for four adults, two of whom are 6'8" or taller).
Have you tried www.vrbo.com ? I just looked and they seem to have lots of places in London.
Wes,
I have used VRBO.com numerous times and have been very happy with them. We were just there in March and rented a lovely flat on Basil Street in Knightsbridge - 2 bedroom/2 bath and just a short walk to the tube.
Here are some local companies;

Have a great trip!
English Manner and A Place Like Home have apartment rentals.
Make sure you ask questions when renting from anyone, such as how much for security deposit, and is it cash or credit? Get a telephone number to call when you arrive, and get references.
Here's one site:

Go to www.gumtree.com. Its the #1 UK website, much like Craigslist on a slightly smaller scale. They have short term lets in there. You can also post a free ad.
I got a major runaround from VRBO (turned out they stole a listing from another agency) and wouldn't ever go back. We booked our apartment from another agency, the english manner, which was fantastic. Staying in South Kensington was a joy.
We've used www.holiday-rentals.co.uk twice, once for a flat in Germany and then this past March for a house in Ware. Both were great experiences and we will definitely use them again in the future. Like someone else said, ask plenty of questions and get a local phone number. Both of the owners we rented from were always quick to respond to my emails with questions. Let me know if you have other questions.

We've had good success with homelidays.com. You deal directly with the owners when booking.
