My family will be traveling to London this coming July and staying a week. There are four of us (all adults) and I'd like to find a reasonable apartment rather than a hotel. I'll appreciate any suggestions. Jane O

We have stayed several times at the Emperor's Gate Apartment Hotel. It is owned by a friendly family and they have two buildings, one on Emperor's Gate and one at 8 Knaresborough Place near Earl's Court underground. (This is the building I have always stayed in.) It is not fancy but nice, not expensive, has no elevator. One of the apartments has a back balcony which just about doubles the size of the living room, very nice for breakfast if it is sunny.
