I will be staying near Carlisle and may do a day trip to Glasgow. Has anyone been there in the last year or two to comment on what's new/been upgraded?
I really enjoyed the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum; you could spend hours in there. I enjoyed the diversity of the museum and all the hands-on opportunities, as well as a nice collection of art.
We really enjoyed eating dinner at an India restaurant across the street. It was called Mother India Cafe - they served Indian food tapas style. It was very good and moderately priced. The service was very friendly and attentive.
If you enjoy music, King Tut's Wah Wah Hut is a funky, alternative place to hear local and up and coming musical talent. The have music most nights and the shows are pretty inexpensive.
Before you go, check on the Charles Rennie MacIntosh Society, to see if seeing any of his work is intresting to you. It's really quite wonderful.
Across the street from Kelvingrove is the transportation museum, which was a lot of fun. I think it's moving eventually to another location. BTW if you've never seen it, the Tenement House is really interesting. No changes lately though. Pam
If you're a Charles Rennie Makintosh fan, go to the tearoom he designed (similar architecture to FL Wright) - fun place to eat.
Hey you might want to check out this site on the museums of Glasgow. They have a link about what's new. http://www.glasgowmuseums.com/news.cfm It's a great site! I found it when I was trying to check out the Burrell collection. I visited Pollock Park a number of years ago and found the collection interesting. PAm
