Hello! My family would like to tour the Antrim Glens, but I am having a hard time understanding how much time we should dedicate to this area. We are an active family and want to get out of the car to tour any worthwhile areas. We also plan to walk the whole 5-mile Causeway, plus the rope bridge, and I don't want to try to cram too much into one day. We are happy staying overnight in the area so we give the area its due. Any feedback is welcome. Thank you.
There are all sorts of trails, some going up to mountaintop viewpoints, others down to the sea. You could spend days in this park. Personally I'd spend more time here and a lot less at the causeway especially if the weather is good. There is a fee for parking but you can leave your car all day. Just prior to your trip go to the park's web site for any closures especially regarding the waterfall.
Thank you, Marie. Do you suggest spending less time at the Causeway because of crowds, or just because you find the Glens more scenic? thank you again.
So you drive to see the Devil's causeway and well, that's about it. I mean it's fun and interesting from a geological standpoint. We clambered about for awhile but then it was, fine, more of same over there and over there and over there. The Glens offer a variety of visual and sensory experiences and are great to tramp about in (great vacation break). I'm not saying don't go to the Devil's Causeway but if I could only do one it would be the Glens. Here's hoping you aren't doing all this in the rain. Ireland is the only place I've been where the weather report said "occasional bursts of sunshine!" Yea!!! FYI the Irish were the nicest and most helpful people I've ever met, period.
thank you again for your insight, Marie. We'll be sure to pack the rain jackets!
