Another Hoard Found!!

BBC announced that another "Hoard" has been found in England. This time in Somerset and it comprises 52,000 third century Roman coins made of silver and bronze. They were in a good size "jar" and in a farmers field. They are delicate according to the news report and the British Museum has taken possession of them. Does anybody there in Britain have information on if they will be on display this year...say in August or September?

Yes, I am going to be there with my traveling buddies and we already have plans to go to Birmingham to see the "Staffordshire Hoard exhibit but we would love to see some of the new find if at all possible.

Always Curious,

Mollie

Apparently a selection of the coins will be on display at the British Museum from 22 July to mid August. If they are like other coin hoards they will, unlike the Staffordshire artifacts, not be that exciting. Roman coins are pretty common in the UK and are quite cheap to buy from coin dealers.

The "Mildenhall Treasure" (silver tableware) also at the BM is far more interesting and spectacular.
