Hello! My wife and I are taking my mother to England in September for a 10-day trip. My brothers and sisters would like to help Mom with her expenses. With Mother's Day coming up, the question is --- would they be better off giving her an American Express gift card or good old hard cold cash (a bit unseemly but maybe more practical). Any other ideas?

Not sure what kind of money we're talking about. Unless it's huge, like $1000+, they could buy British pounds from their bank. She'd have a hard time refusing that and it could be kind of fun. If amount is too large she might feel uncomfortable carrying that much cash. Alternatively, cash to deposit into her account with a debit card would work.
