I need to connect with that area. My Great grandfather was a Professor in the late 1800s. I do not speak Swedish.
It's easy to reach from Stockholm. Don't worry about Swedish, English is THE second language for all of Scandinavia. Virtually everyone you meet, and certainly any college student, will speak outstanding English.
What specifically is your question? How to get to Uppsala? And from where? From both Stockholm city and airport, it takes less than an hour to reach by rail. Trains depart frequently all day. PS- I've only passed through Uppsala on a train, so that's pretty much all the information I can offer.
I'd like to rent a small house, apartment, rooms etc. I want to feel like I live there for a month or so. jc
I had a big long post ready.. and then the forum ate it. Sorry. Short version: Check blocket.se for a place to stay. Students often rent their rooms for the month when they go home. Use Google Translate to get past the language barrier. And here's a map of the area: http://goo.gl/maps/hcK0K
