Anyone know the best way (considering price and time) to get from either London Gatwick to Salisbury OR from Heathrow to Salisbury? Thanks in advance.

From Gatwick you can take a local train a couple of stops down the line to Crawley.
Once at Crawley you take a train to Southampton and then double back on a branch line to Salisbury.
It takes about two and a half hours but it's much easier than going into London.
