Airfares from US to Ireland

My wife and I are one of three couples flying to Ireland in late June (21st or 22nd) for two weeks. Right now, flights are just over $1000 per person r/t from Kansas City. Is this what I should expect to pay or do fares typically lower further into the spring? Thanks in advance...

No one can predict fares. Best option is to sign up for email price alerts with one of the travel websites. Remember that the longer you wait, the fewer the available seats on your preferred dates.

This seems about average. I paid about $1200 for July '10. Only once for about 5 minutes did I see them go any lower than that and still they were about $1000.

For nine months, I monitored prices on a specific Chicago-Dublin flight for our December vacation. I noticed United's prices went way down over the 4th of July and again over Labor Day weekend ....maybe you would have luck over President's Day weekend?

If anything, prices will edge up, June being peak travel time. If you could wait until October, the fare to Dublin is $715.

I'm thinking that's probably about average. We bought our tickets for $900 r/t per person from Pensacola to Dublin and we're traveling in late April. I watched prices for about 2 months prior to buying and they ranged from 850-1100 for regular coach for us, so I just decided to bite the bullet and buy when they looked good. I think we are going to upgrade to Delta's "Economy Comfort" on the way from JFK to Dublin (our flight has 2 connections on the way over) and that adds $160, but still not too bad. :) Enjoy your trip!

John when you go to Kayak to sign up for fare alerts consider adding London as your fly into and out of city. London is a huge international flight hub and there might be more airfare bargains from KC to London. No promises but a consideration. Then investigate Ryan Air, Aerlingus or even traveling by ferry to Dublin to start you Ireland vacation. Merely a suggestion. Would you consider flying from KC to NYC, staying the night and taking a flight from there to Shannon or Dublin? I yearn for the days when I could fly SFO to Heathrow for $350. I'm not sure that would get me to KC these days. Good Luck.

Kansas City is my home airport so I'm very familiar with average cost for flights from there. I went to Ireland in May 2010 and if I remember correctly, my flight was around $900 and I purchased at the end of February.
