I would like some suggestions for places for afternoon tea. I know the top places, Ritz, etc, but would like some less costly and maybe more casual places. We are going to Harrod's and I read they have an afternoon tea.
Ideas and suggestions appreciated.

The Orangery at Kensington Palace is fantastic, it's casual. I know you will enjoy it.
We enjoyed the Orangery at Kensington Palace. It costs less than many other places and is not formal. It was very good and I think you will find that many others here agree.
The National Gallery does a pretty decent afternoon tea.
Another vote for the Orangery at Kensington Palace. It was a lovely location for afternoon tea and reasonably priced.
There was another thread on this some while back, and most people recommended The Orangery ... it's on my list of must-do's on my next trip to London, whenever that might be.
We have been to the Capital Hotel - up the street from Harrod's twice now and have enjoyed it. It is private and the prices are reasonable if you just want to get scones and not the full range of finger foods.
Thanks - Bill
