My wife and I are very active and love to walk/hike. We've never been to Ireland, but plan on going sometime later this year. Besides spending a few days in Dublin, we would really love to take a guided walking tour. We would like to see the stunning countryside/hillsides/seaside, as well as some castles and ruins, if possible. 1. Rick seems to think the Dingle Peninsula is the best scenic spot in Ireland. Would this area be the best area for our adventure? 2. Can anyone suggest a good guided walking tour? We can certainly travel alone, but we thought we might get more out of it if there was a guide along. Plus, it would increase safety and decrease chances of getting lost, etc. Thanks! Brian
Give us a bit more detail. What time of year? How many days? Are you looking for day tours in several areas, or a multi-day tour? What areas are you interested in?
You might take a look at www.walkingireland.ie If you are interested in someplace more off the beaten path look at the section on Donegal or www.donegaldirect.ie
Thanks, Nancy. I assume we'll be going sometime between May and October. It depends on our work schedule. We have quite a few stops in Europe, so I was thinking of a tour lasting 3-7 days. The Dingle Peninsula would be best, as I've read that it has a little of everything we're after small villages and breathtaking seascapes. However, any trail that had trails near the cliffs/sea, villages, and some ruins or castles, would do. I assume we'll fly into Shannon or Dublin. We plan on going to the UK and possibly Europe afterwards. Thanks!
