Adare Manor Ire./Oakroom rest.

My husband & I are going to Adare Manor next year & I have "heard" that the Oakroom rest. requires more formal dress(jacket & tie) for instance-is this true? Also-we booked our own tour & got a rental car thru Hertz-does anyone have any input on that? Thanks so much for all your advice-Brenda

Hi Brenda, I haven't been to Adare Manor but think you should do the tour yourself! It's so fun to research areas and pick where you want to go. Driving here gives you much more flexiblity! Enjoy your trip!

We travel alot doing our own planning. Some years ago we arrived in Ireland and proceeded to Hertz where we had prepaid for a rental. Prepayment enabled us to get the car with no additional charge for full insurance. Trouble was that once there they offered us a 'wreck' of a car as they had no other - or so they said. Normally we would have bolted for a different rental company but since we had prepaid we couldn't. We refused the car and just sat around for a little while until they relented and gave us a respectable car. At that time I think we were not dealing with Hertz Corp but a private company who had the Hertz franchise. Based on this I would poll this board for those with more recent experience with Hertz Ireland. We visited Adare Manor but did not eat there. It is a beautiful location. In fact, when we were there the entire village of Adare was very impressive.

We rented from Hertz last May and had a good experience. (Picked up at Dublin airport, dropped off at Shannon airport.)
You can get a confirmed rate, including all insurance, w/o prepaying. Just print and bring your detailed confirmation with the rate listed. But we had no problem getting exactly what we reserved, at exactly the price. I booked online directly with Hertz. I would suggest shopping around to compare rates, then book ASAP, and then check back occasionally. You can cancel or rebook without penalty if you should find a better rate (which you probably will). But if rates go up, you will have locked in a lower rate if you do it early. Just read the fine print. Adare is a beautiful village. We didn't visit the manor, though. I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time. Stacy
