I'm wondering about bringing my laptop to Ireland but have heard that power surges or wrong adapters can wipe your computer if not careful. Any suggestions about what adapter I should bring along? Thanks.
Power surges are no friend of hi-tech equipment, but they can happen anywhere, even your own house. It's not something you should be overly concerned about. Adapters simply allow you to fit you plug into a different outlet and have nothing to do with power surges. There are two different types of adapters the UK model, and the continental European model. Both can be purchased at the via the travel store tab on this web site. Different countries do use different voltages, but most electronics these day will automatically do the conversion. If you laptop says something like "AC Input 110v-240v", it will handle all voltages and no converter is necessary.
go to a radio shack. They know and have what you need.
