Looking for a good B&B or small hotel on the water. Can anyone help? Also, how does the plan work with some hotels paying for your ferry trip to the island?

I stayed two nights at The Wellington Hotel in Ventnor two years ago. It was a small Victorian hotel that faced the sea and had direct access. Try googling them.
Ventnor is the south side of the Island.
Don't bother getting a pre-paid ferry crossing, just drive up and get on. There's no real saving for pre-booking. The Ferries are very frequent.
