We stay at the Royal British Hotel in Edinburgh. It is right across from Waverly Station and is a good solid hotel-- not 5 star but very good. Breakfast is excellent. Location is PERFECT!!!
Hi Toni,
We will have a look at that. Thanks so much.
Dave, Are you thinking about doing anything else in Scotland? We have traveled a good bit in the Aviemore area and Inverness area. Let me know if you have other questions.
Hi Dave, I love Edinburgh and have been there several times. The castle of course, don't miss the pets cemetery. Take a city tour to get your bearings and see what you want to go back to. Greyfriars cemetery, climb up Arthurs Seat, The Falkirk Wheel, The Royal mile (there's a great little tea place nearish the bottom. It has been said that the Forth Road Bridge was only built so one could get a better view of The Forth Bridge, so try to see that. The Former Royal Yacht Brittania is on the Leith and is interesting to those who care about that sort of thing. Oh my gosh, there is just so much to see. Museums, The Georgian House on Charlotte Sq (?) I don't know about the Bank Hotel, we have stayed in B&B's and I believe it was the King James Hotel, part of the Thistle chain.
Hi!
I am also interested. Can someone give me more hotel options? We are a family of four travelling first week of december.
The bus is a great way to get around. Don't forget to see the Roslyn Chapel. I believe it is the 15A bus. Not too far of a walk from the last stop in Roslyn. It only cost a pound per person to ride out and 7 pounds to get in. Make sure there aren't anything else going on at the chapel before you go out. (There was a wedding later on in the day we went).
Roslyn is now on the 15 bus - they've switched the routes between the 15 and 15a
With kids you might want to stay a bit further out to avoid the noise in centre city. There are B&Bs and small hotels on Minto Rd which are nice and right on the main bus routes.
