Accomodations and where to go in Cotswold

We're finalizing our trip to England in March and I feel overwhelmed with choices for accomodations and what to do. We're spending 2 days in the Cotswold's and a day in Stratford, 2 days in Bath and 6 days in London. Any recent experiences on B&B's or Inns? Particulary in Cotswold area and Bath? Thanks!

Cotswolds: One of the major centres is Stow on the Wold. it has two hotels on the main/market square, one was (and still looks like) a coaching inn. We have stayed at both and recommend both. Broadway- the biggest village has many hotels we have stayed at Broadway Hotel (fine), however THE place to stay is Lygon Arms (another grand old coaching inn0 , also highly recommended. We usually cruise around until we find a nice looking spot. Be careful though even in March Cotswolds are popular on weekends. In Burford we enjoyed the Lamb Inn (excellent restaurant as well).
One place i want to try one day is the Bear Hotel in Woodstock, on the doorstep of Blenheim palace.

Stayed at the Volunteer Inn in Chipping Camden. It was above a pub on the main street (noise was not an issue) It was fun, friendly, reasonable and right near lots of great restaurants and it was a good central spot for traveling around by car.

sara, On my last visit to The Cotswolds, I stayed at The Old Stocks Hotel and would certainly recommend it. The Hotel is in a very old building, and is suitable "creaky" in the true Rick Steves style. The food in the restaurant is great, with generous portion sizes (at least for me). Having a car to visit Stow-On-The-Wold is definitely an advantage, as public transportation is a bit "limited". The Hotel provides a car park in the back. Happy travels!

We stayed at Holly Villa in Bath our last trip. In Rick's book and was great! Nicely decorated, very nice breakfast, near the town center and very nice owners!

We stayed in Stow Lodge for 3 days during our trip last June. It's a wonderful, typically English hotelI think we were the only Americans. Great location just off the square with a beautiful garden. Wonderful food too. Stow is very centrally located in the Cotswolds, so a good base for touring and also convenient to Stratford. In Bath we stayed at Brocks Guest House, conveniently located between the Circus and the Royal Crescent. Big room with king size bed (unusual for England), large bath and great breakfasts. We highly recommend both places. Also recommend the Mad Max Tours from Bath to Stonehenge, Avebury and two picturesque Cotswold villages. Very informative and friendly guides.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. Turns out that our trip is during the Cheltenham Horse Racing Festival so lots of rooms were booked. However, Wendy from The Old School B&B was wonderful - thanks for your recommendation! She could only take us for one night but found someone else that could take us the other three nights! This has been extremely helpful! Thank you!

I'll put in my vote too for The Old Stocks Hotel in Stow. We had one room reserved for my wife and I and our 18 year old son. The owner thought my wife and I needed some privacy, so he gave our son his own very little, very cute room. He didn't charge any different for the two rooms. The food was good too, as previously mentioned.

We stayed in a very small village called Kingham. It was lovely. One shop and a couple of pubs. Easy drive to everything. Having said that, and I would definitely stay there again, I also like Bourton On The Water.

For Bath, we stayed at Three Abbey Green. It's 400 feet from the Roman baths, the main church and lots of nice places to eat. It's about 4 blocks from the train station. You're probably 400 feet from the Hop On/Hop Off bus stop. Wonderful owners, service and full breakfast.
