Accommodations near Dublin Airport

We'll be driving back from Kilarney to Dublin and will need to stay somewhere before we fly out of Dublin's airport the following afternoon (2pm). We'll be driving, so we can drop off our car before catch our plane. Any suggestions on where to stay? We had wanted to stay in B&B's the 6 days we were in Ireland, but MOST of them are closed in Feb. and/or they were booked. So we're staying in some hotels, 4 - 5 stars that were just as "cheap" as the B&B's. But if we can grab a quaint place (not a cookie cutter hotel) before we depart, that would be great. If not, some place that is financially modest would be great. THANK YOU

Trim is just north of Dublin and is a 45 minute drive to the airport.Newgrange is nearby and was one of our favorite places in Ireland. It opens at 9AM and takes a hour or two to visit. If you got to trim early in the day you could visit Newgrange and then see Trim castle the next morning.Just food for thought.

Charla, There is a Crowne Plaza and a Holiday Inn Express located next to each other about a 10 minute drive from the airport. This would give you a choice of luxury or mid-class accommodations. They do have a shuttle bus to the airport in case you might need to use it.

We're staying in Dun Loaghaire at the start of our trip in early March - at Ophira. Recommended by Rick and has received great reviews everywhere I look. Check it out here: http://www.ophira.ie/

The Patton Flier ( http://www.thepattonflyer.ie/ ) can get you to/from the Dublin airport in 45 minutes or so.

Best.

Just so you're aware, there is an airport shuttle that covers much of Dublin. You could possibly drop off your rental car early, then stay within the city. But of course, finding a modestly priced bed these days in Dublin is not easy...
