My son will be attending the Univ. of Manchester and I will be with him for a coulpe days and need accommodations near the Univ. if possible - and of course something reasonably priced. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you!

Hi,

There's hotel in the Ibis chain, on Charles Street/Princess street, that you could look at. It's very close (a couple of minutes) to some of the science areas of the university, where there are some halls of residence. It's also very near to Oxford Road where the main parts of Manchester Uni are located. It's easy to get to as it's about a 5-10 minute walk from the train station and it's about 10 mins from the city centre.

Here's the link

Hope this helps

Ann,

I can only offer you a general suggestion. Perhaps someone who has actually stayed in Manchester has a great tip.

In case no one does i would look at Premier Travel Inn (PTI). I would say the PTI is an equivalent of a Best Western in the states. Clean, normally modern, lodging at a relatively affordable price.

If you have a car there are number of them in the surrounding areas of Manchester that should be easy to get to. Also looking at where the University is there should be a wealth of public transport opportunities in the area.

Also if nothing pops out to you and you lack transport. You can take a 20 min train to the airport and consider one of those hotels.
