Accommodations in Manchester?

My wife and I will be in Manchester for 2 nights mid September and wanted to know if any of you could recommend a hotel.

We are going to stay at the Ox, it is actually a pub that has a few rooms they rent out upstairs which are fairly cheap. We are going to be there in September as well so I can't tell you how it was yet. What nights will you be in Manchester?

Old Trafford Lodge (it is the lodge associated with Manchester United) is a very nice hotel. More like what Americans would be used to. Depending on whether the football team is home or not, rates are very reasonable. The tram to downtown Manchester (which takes about 10 minutes) is about 3 blocks down the street....the tram also runs to all the train stations.
