We have a last minute trip to London next weekend and cannot find accommodations. We tried the ones in Rick's book - all full. Can anyone help?

go to betterbidding.com and read the tips. You should be able to get some good deals using their info and either Hotwire, or Priceline name you own price.

Congratulations on getting a flight! With all the chaos just now about the volcano ash, and with almost all the European airports closed for 4 or days, it is wonderful to see folks still coming this way. I'd check with the airline for any last minute alterations.
By the way, why Margate?
I've just a scan around Holiday Inns around London and there are over 30 with availability. About half of the Accor properties have space, but about half don't. I believe that a lot of capacity around airports and around St Pancras is due to the ban on flying at the moment.

Margate has lovely views but is run down if you want a holiday experience. Broadstairs is nicer.
I agree, avoid the hotel area airports and you should be fine.
