a half day in Guernsey

We will have about six hours in Guernsey in August next year and would appreciate tips on making the most of our time, including must-sees and names of any private guides anyone could recommend. Thank you.

Just curious- how do you have six hours on Guernsey unless you planned it. Its not on the way to anywhere. we had a week on Jersey and visited Sark by Hydrofoil ferry, really enjoyed both islands- never got to visit Guernsey though

It is the first stop on a British Isles cruise, and we arrive at 7 am and depart at 2 pm.

St Peter(s?) Port is supposed to be an interesting town for walking around. Judging by Jersey, their public bus system should be good. I would try and arrange for a driver plus car to show you around the island

Have you read the "Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society" book yet? Goofy title, but very good book.

The book sounds fun so may check that out. As for cow tipping, we live in west Texas where we're surrounded with cotton fields or land with lots of cows which are way too big to do anything but herd! Since our party will be four people we're debating getting a guide since the activities on the cruise excursions suggest there are a number of good things to see if we can just get to them fairly quickly in a smaller group.

I, too, have read The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. I laughed and I cried. And it's St. Peter Port. What a great place from which to start a cruise. As you can see The Channel Islands are not often visited by posters on this site. It will be our chance to learn from you.

If you visit Guernsey, consider taking a day trip to sark by ferry. Interesting little spot. Not much to do, but good walking. When I wwas there they didnt allow cars. i dont think that has changed
