We are planning a trip to Scotland to include three nights in Edinburgh. We are driving up with rental car from the lake district and don't want to drive in Edinburgh. Can you recommend a bed and breakfast or reasonably priced hotel in a town near Edinburgh? Ideally we should be near a bus line or train stop to travel into the city each day.
Thanks for your response. It's good to know it's easy to drive to. I feel OK about driving there but don't feel so confident about driving in the cities.
Larry, Edinburgh is not a very big town. I understand your concern, but you'll be driving in and driving and not driving around. ; ) I think what should be more to the point in your search for a B&B is that they have place for your car. I stayed at a small hotel on Dalkeith Road one year and it had parking. Just be sure to get good instructions from your B&B for your arrival. Don't relay on GPS as there are probably roadworks and the B&B or hotel will be able to tell you how to dodge them or at least minimize them.
