Will my GPS work in rental car in England?

We're planning to take our Garmin Nuvi, which has maps of Europe already loaded, to England and Wales.
Will we be able to plug it into the rental car's cigarette lighter? We're picking the car up at Heathrow. We don't know exactly which car they'll give us, but we've reserved an automatic.

Ours did. :-) Once we had the maps, we just turned it on and were good to go.

Make sure the gps works before you leave the rental agency. Ours worked till the battery ran out. Turns out the cigarette lighter was broken. There's a first time for everything!

It won't matter if your car is automatic or standard for the power point. We now no longer use the suction cup on the windscreen because it leaves a mark which is thief bait. We use the bean bag device which leaves no marks.

Absolutely. And, follow Nigel's advice on the mounting bracket. It would suck to lose your GPS...
