The Olympics will be going from 27 July until 12 August. I will be visiting London around then for my honeymoon, but I would like to avoid the massive crowds. I am a little flexible as to when I will be in London, so I was wondering if anyone knew when the city would start getting really busy?
Thanks
The Olympic venues are away from the city center, and the events will probably "suck" visitors away from the popular tourists sites. So during the games you shouldn't have a problem with massive crowds as you are sightseeing; sites won't be anymore crowded as they would be any other summer. The real issue will be if you can stomach the high hotel prices and airfare.
Great points! Thanks for the info!
There are some events that will be in central London (eg beach volleyball in Horse Guards Parade) or be held on roads such as the marathon and cycling. A check on the schedule should enable to avoid these if that is what you want.
