7 day London RS Tour

For anyone who has taken this tour. Sounds like you really have to be in tip top physical shape to keep up on certain days. How true is this ?

I did this tour in 2010, it was very busy. We were out by about 9 every morning and on the go almost all day. Lots of standing at museums/churches and a good amount of walking. On our tour we almost always took the bus (vs. the Tube) and sometimes the only seats available were on the second floor. The hotel we stayed in did not have an elevator, so between the bus and the hotel, there is potential for lots of stairs. Hope that gives you an idea.

My wife and I took this tour last yer. While you can expect a lot of walking/standing/riding public transit, I wouldn't say you have to be in the best shape to enjoy the tour. There were several older people on the tour, one who had knee replacement surgery awhile back and they all managed just fine.

susan, You need to be in reasonably good physical shape for the RS tours, but I'm not sure I'd characterize this as "tip top" as I certainly don't fit that category. On the tour, you'll be doing a fair amount of walking (some days more than others) and a fair amount of standing during local tours. Happy travels!

Susan, I have only taken one RS tour, but my thoughts are they exagerate a bit on how "tough" it is,( to discourage luxury tour seekers and whiners) , I don't think any average person would find them a struggle, its not about being in "tip top shape" have you looked at the scrapbook photo albums on this site,, pictures of all the various tours taken by those on the tours themselves,, sorry they all look like average folks , not athletes. I will be frank,, if you very overweight, or very elderly( over 75?) or have an actual health issue,( arthritis, bad hips/knees) then the tour may be a bit much, but , the tours are not going to be that hard,, I mean if walking around on a tour is hard then touring around on your own is going to be just as hard.
Anyone going to Europe for a vacation should take up a bit of a walking excercise program before they go,, since on a tour or not , you will be walking alot more then you do at home.
