Hi, I am a 27 yo female traveling to the UK solo this May. I have figured out most of my lodging except for London. I am looking for somewhere safe, central, and reasonably priced. I am hoping to find something in the range of 30-50 GBP. Is this possible or am I being completely unreasonable? Thank you!
Try easyhotel.
Priceline works well for London. You can easily get a business-class hotel for around 50GBP if you bid wisely. Head here for all the details: http://biddingfortravel.yuku.com/
The only place I know of in that range is the London School of Economics. They rent spare dorm rooms to tourists. Here is their website www.lsevacations.co.uk
Check the airbnb website. You can search by price. If you find place you like make certain it's in zones 1 & 2 for easy tube access. Confirm with the owner. Print out a tube map http://www.tfl.gov.uk/assets/downloads/large-print-tube-map.pdf so you'll know which neighborhoods are within those zones.
Happy travels.
Thank you for all the suggestions! I will definitely look into them. :) Laura
We stayed in the Celtic Hotel near the British Museum and very close to an Underground stop. It was very reasonably priced, nice people, and a wonderful big breakfast. Can't remember what we paid. Check their ratings on tripadviser.com. You have to call them for reservations -- can't do it over the web. Check it out. Julia
This is were I and/or my daughter always used to stay. Very safe and clean. Mrs Patel is lovely. This is centrally located near Victoria train and bus stations. Their single is just 5 GBP above your budget. http://www.cherrycourthotel.co.uk/
