I've got 5 hours to kill at Gatwick airport before catching my EasyJet flight to Zurich. Is that enough time to take a little venture out of the airport? If so, what can I check out?
If you're staying in the airport, there are some lounges that you pay extra for, but they are really nice- quiet, comfy chairs, free drinks and newspapers. I can't recall the exact details of where they are but if you google gatwick airport lounges, you should be able to find the info.
I agree with the previous poster, I don't think you have enough time to go into London comfortably, but I suppose it depends on your nerves!
By the time you clear immigration and customs you may have only 3 or 4 hours. You could also have the full 5! Gatwick is not as busy as Heathrow and we have usually cleared everything in less than an hour (We don't check luggage). The Gatwick Express will get you into Victoria Station in about 30 min. You could look at Buckingham Place and maybe walk down to look at Parliment and Big Ben. Then hurry back to catch the train back to the airport (remember you will need be back at the airport at least 2 hours ahead of your flight). I think you would be cutting it too close! There are lots of shops in Gatwick. Including a branch of Harrods and some good perfume and chocolate shops as well as some good specialty shops (Scottish, liquior,etc.). Why not take it easy and stay in the airport.
