Hotel reservations

My 15 yr old daughter suprised me with tickets to Ireland last week in loo of her going to New York for her "sweet sixteen". (She has been saving her money since she was 12. AMAZING) In secret she has been making all the plans for quite some time but she has us staying in one place the whole 6 days - Donegal. Is this wise? Is there enough within a few hours car ride from there to see and do? Will the hotel let us out of the reservations if we decide to travel more? We are leaving this week.

Yes, you can usually change reservations, but you need to check on the hotel's policy (as soon as possible). Donegal is a bit off the beaten path as far as tourist areas, which is nice, but you are also fairly far from most of the things that most people want to see in Ireland. Take a look at some guidebooks, and also check out www.viamichelin.com for distances and driving times from one place to another in Ireland (add about 25% to their time estimates, though). That will help you tell better whether you might want to move on after a few days.
