My wife and I are going to London soon and I was wondering if our American Axpress card would be accepted? We get good points back so we want to use that card if possible.

It is accepted, but I would also take a Visa or Mastercard.
I used to travel a lot for business with a company-provided AmEx. Never had a problem at the business class hotels. However, was not able to use it at some restaurants and smaller places.

American Express has always charged a slightly higher fee to merchants than Visa and Mastercard. Decades back, they were the only game in town. Not any more. You may find that like here in America, many small businesses do not honor American Express. I have two corporate credit cards. The primary one is American Express and the secondary is a Visa. Unfortunately, I have to have the Visa as some places where I need to do business do not accept American Express.
