A group of golfing buddys and I are traveling to Scotland in June. Several of us are arriving a day early and I have been tasked with finding a place to stay for one night on Sat. the 13th. None of the 'Dalkeith' places Rick mentions take one night reservations even for multiple and I am reticent to book the 'downtown' hotels based on Rick's review. Does anyone have any recommendations? Also, I was thinking this might be a good opportunity to use one of the internet booking services since 'basic single' would be okay for this group. thoughts? thanks.

If you are arriving by train (or even by air) the Royal British is a convient hotel. It is across Princes St. from Waverly train station.

I'm going to suggest the Inverleith. It's a small family run hotel near the Royal Botanic Gardens. I really like it. Pam
