We are planning a 'once-in-a-lifetime' family trip to Scotland/Ireland in summer 2014: myself (to be 70), daughter & son-in-law, and grandson (to be 6) We would like to choose 3 main locations, one week each with a rental cottage in each location...then fan out from there for touring the areas. We were thinking 1 week for Scotland and 2 weeks for Ireland. Should we make reservations for cottages in summer 2013? When should we make airline reservations? I was thinking of flying into Edinburough and leaving out of Ireland for home. Any and all ideas and suggestions would be welcomed. I have purchased Rick's 2 Guide Books (Scotland & Ireland) plus his large travel map. Thank you!
