3 full days in N. Wales - Where to stay, what to see?

I am traveling by train and bus in early August. Prior to an RS tour of Ireland, I am taking the train to London. After that, I would like to head to Wales, where I will take a ferry from Holyhead to Dun Laoghaire and on to Dublin to start the tour. I will have three full days to tour around Wales before traveling to Dublin. I would prefer to stay in the north of Wales. Which city would be a good base camp to tour around by train (I have a BritRail Flexi Pass) and bus? Which sites would you visit in three days? I am not much for touring inside of castles, as I have seen many of these. I am more into history, natural wonders (I love the sea) and mixing in with people in the area.

Well. Since my time in Wales was spent looking at castles, I have nothing for you, lol. And I used buses for transport, not trains. I loved Conwy as a town... delightful people, delightful setting... delightful castle. :D Anglesey has some lovely walks, around the coast, wonderful views.
