3 days/2 nights outside of Dublin recommendations

We have 3 days/2 nights with a car, leaving from Dublin in mid-Sept. Must wind up at Dublin airport Saturday night. Suggestions for itinerary? Newgrange indispensable, or Kilkenny/Waterford better? Thanks, Mags.
