We have 3 days/2 nights with a car, leaving from Dublin in mid-Sept. Must wind up at Dublin airport Saturday night. Suggestions for itinerary? Newgrange indispensable, or Kilkenny/Waterford better? Thanks, Mags.

Newgrange and Kilkenny cannot be compared. It depends on what you want to see. Newgrange is a Neolithic passage tomb, and interests me very much because I like that sort of thing. Kilkenny is a town, as is Waterford. You need to look at a few guidebooks to see what you might be interested in seeing or doing, then come back and we can help you narrow it down into an itinerary. We just can't guess what you like.

We spent two nights in Trim, and there is lots to do in that area, including New Grange. We also spent a night in Kilkenny and wished we had more time.
