Hello Travelers! I am planning a trip to London for 7 days this summer and would like to hear your recommendations on rooms. We are taking my mother along so we need an elevator and air con. Any other suggestions on things to do or avoid would be greatly appreciated.

Connie, type in "rooms in London" on the top right corner of this website and hit the search button. You'll get numerous posts to review.
Also, as noted in the other post, it's advisable to visit your local bookstore or order Rick's 2009 London guidebook online. You'll get great and practical information about sites, transportation, accommodations, food, etc. by buying his book.
Lastly, if you scroll down on this website you'll see other posts about London accommodations, theatre, etc. You'll find pertinent information there as well.
Enjoy your journey.
Hi Connie,
London is a vast city with lots of differing neighborhoods. The central area (where most tourist stuff is) is smaller but there are still a lot of choices for accommodation. Everything will depend on your budget. I would suggest getting the RS London book (it can be invaluable) and doing some research on the neigborhoods first. Use http://www.visitlondon.com/ to assist. You might also consider a flat (apartment) rental. It could work out cheaper than 2 hotel rooms and give you a kitchen, more room to spread out, etc. Try http://www.regentsuites.com/ or http://londonguestsuites.com/ and compare when looking at hotels.
Good luck and happy travels.
We like to stay at the Victoria Thistle Hotel- now called the Grosovener. It is right inside Victoria Station. It is very nice, elevators and most rooms have AC- just specify that when booking. It is so easy to get to trains or the tube or buses. Lots of good resturants around and the shops in the station are good, too.
Hi Connie,
Depending on your budget and personal needs/desires, I would recommend looking into renting a flat/apt. during your stay. I usually use VRBO.com but the following sites are also helpful;
http://www.ilondonapartments.com/
http://www.homefromhome.co.uk/site/
http://www.heartoflondon.com/
(I found the people exceptionally helpful at this site and I normally dealt with Judith)
John at http://www.shortstay-london.com/ was also very pleasant to deal with.
Have a great trip!
Since you haven't mentioned a budget, I highly recommend the Renaissance Chancery Court - right outside Holborn station. As the name suggests, the Marriott chain took the old Chancery court and converted it into a hotel.
