I am wanting to go on a 3 week trip to Great Britain and wandering if anyone has any ideas where to go and how long to stay at each place. Me and a few others will by traveling by train as well. If anyone has any ideas please let me know.
The RS England guidebook may have exactly what you are looking for, a suggested 3-week itinerary. On the other hand, locations he suggests may not be what you like; only you can decide that. Good luck.
I've found that it's less hectic to stay at least two nights at each destination. I've just booked a three week trip there in April, arriving in Aberdeen and leaving from Gatwick, renting a car and zig-zagging from place to place in between.
Me and a few others will by traveling by train as well. How many few? Depending on where you go and when, you may find Groupsave3 tickets or Groupsave4 tickets money savers.
How marvelous to have 21 days! The most we ever managed was 12. If I had that much time, I'd stayin London for 5-7 days- and do some day trips- maybe Windsor and Canterburry or Dover or Stratford-upon-Avon or Brighton or Cardiff or Bath. Then I'd take the train to York- and spend 1 to 2 days. Then train to Edinburgh- 2 days. Train to Aviemore- 2 or 3 days with time to tour some distirlleries in the area. Then train to Inverness- 3-5 days (or more) with a long day trip up to Orkney maybe, and one to Isle of Skye and Elien Donan castel and the Great Glen or Glen Coe- oh, and spen time at Cullodean and Clava Cairnes and do a cruise up Loch Ness. Then train to Glasgow- 1 or 2 days and train to the Snowdonia area of Wales maybe- 2-3 days. Then back to London- unless you can fly open jaw- then fly home from Cardiff. If you'd rather not "do " Scotland, you could still go up to York then work your way down the Lake Districk and Cotswolds (though you'd probably need a car for that area) then on to Bath and maybe the west coast.
It will be me, my cousin (17) and my friend. I've been to London, Eyam and Edinburgh and a few other countries this past summer. I loved visiting Europe in general, but Great Britain really caught my interest and ever since I left wanted to go back. I wanted to bring my cousin and friend this time to show them what a great place it is to visit. Just trying to find some other ideas of where to go.
So much to do and see there, you could just throw darts at a map and end up with a great trip.
Look in to side trips to Wales and Scotland. St. Andrews is my favorite place on earth.
