Ok.. I need help. I will be taking 2-3 months to travel abroad. I will start in Dublin where I have a friend. I will then head to Paris where she has a flat. From there I need help... where to go. I am going in January knowing it will be COLD and wet. I am open to anything on a budget.

Accomodation at Youth Hostels may be an option for you. Very affordable and an excellent way to meet fellow travelers. Defintely use the rail system.

The best thing I did to save money last summer was to stay in apartments with enough kitchen facilities to cook my own meals. In Gimmelwald, Switz. (see RS) Esther's place offers rooms and communal cooking facilities. Of course, hostels are the REALLY cheap way to go. Saved a ton of euros AND it was a fun experience to shop for food in the different markets.
In January, I think I'd head south!
