Let's see if I understand how this works: My husband and I will have 7-day paper Travelcards for zones 1-2. When we travel from Waterloo station to Hampton Court Palace, will we purchase the entry tickets to Hampton at Waterloo? And the travel extension to zone 6 there? Then get the 2 for 1? Thanks!
When I was last there you purchase Hampton entry ntickets at Hampton court- there is no connection with the railways- separate enterprises
I would suggest that you carefully read the 2 for 1 website to confirm for any of the sites where you plan to visit as well as the FAQs. The FAQs can be found here www.daysoutguide.co.uk/faq.aspx This assumes that your Travelcard was one issued by a Rail station (and not by London Underground). You purchase the entry ticket at Hampton Court (not at Waterloo). You will need to present the voucher (from the days out website) and also show your rail ticket to get the discount at Hampton Court.
Thanks - I have read elsewhere that tickets to HCP can be purchased in advance and I found this on the HCP website: Tickets can be purchased on the day or in advance from the ticket office - located just inside the main gates on the left-hand side of the drive - or in advance from any staffed South West Trains station. If Waterloo is a staffed South West trains station, it sounds as if HCP tickets can be purchased at the station.
Waterloo, the last time I looked, was the busiest station in the country. There are probably about 20 ticket windows - give or take.
I don't know when you're going, but you'll want to notice on the 2-for-1 offers that many of them only go through April. We are going in August so are hoping--as one of the UK people here have said--that they will be continued as they have been in the past.
