Would appreciate comments on the 14 day Scandinavian tour. We are thinking about the first or second week of June 2014 to avoid the crowds and children Is this a good time to go? Thanks
Sheila,
I haven't taken that tour yet, but it's definitely one that I've been considering. To address one of the points you mentioned, I haven't found crowds or children to be a problem on any of the seven tours I've taken (so far). Admission to museums and other sites is always arranged in advance, so there's no problems waiting in queues or whatever.
I'm sure June would be a pleasant month to travel, but one aspect to consider is that it could be a bit chilly in the evenings. You may find it helpful to have a look at THIS chart which shows the temperatures you may encounter in June in Stockholm (Norway will likely be a bit cooler).
If your budget will allow, you might consider a trip to Seattle on 18 January for the big tour event, as there will be a free presentation on that tour (and all others), and you can speak with the Guides. There will be over 100 Guides in attendance.
Happy travels!
The summer is usually a safe time to visit Scandinavia. The weather is pretty mild and almost never too hot. Daylight hours are very long. I wouldn't worry too much about "crowds", with the possible exception of Tivoli. Few attractions or destinations in Scandinavia experience anything like the crush of tourists similar to certain museums in Paris or Italy.
