Funny, we just had this confusion the other day! You need a photo to buy the seven day travelcard from the rail lines. You do not need a photo for the seven day travelcard from the underground system. If you search at the top of the page for "travelcard" the recent discussion will pop up.

You don't need a photo for a one day Travelcard regardless of source.
