Where is a good (reasonably priced) place to spend the night in Portsmouth before getting on the ferry for France? Thank you, Millie

Etap/Budget Ibis about a half mile east of the Fratton station is as about as cheap as you can go. £50, maybe a bit less.

Booking.com have 30 hotels listed- I don't know how many are near the port, but they all display a map.

We recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Express at Gunwharf Quays, which is about a 5 minute walk from the harbor train station. There are signs pointing toward GQ. We enjoyed the area. The hotel was fine, and the breakfast was nice. Wifi was not free though. We went up on the Spinnaker Tower, which we enjoyed. Gunwharf Quays is like an outlet mall is here. There were good choices for dinner as well. The hotel arranged a taxi for the next morning. It took about 10 minutes or less to get to the ferry terminal.
