We're flying into Zagreb and want to go into Slovenia to Bled. Is it best to rent a car or is there public transportation?
Train should take around 3-4 hours. Go to the DB site and check it out.
Hi Miriam! If you rent a car, it is not always allowable to drop it off in another country and then very expensive if you do. Zagreb to Ljubljana is not a great distance but there arent that many daily trains as you might think. But there are a few so that is a good choice as it is a quick option. Buses are more frequent so that is another choice. From Ljubljana to Bled buses leave every hour so that isnt a problem. You will love Bled, it is an amazing place!

Greg always gives good advise for Croatia and Slovenia.
Hi, we drove from Bled to Zagreb airport in June. I think it took us about three hours. The drive was easy and scenic. You have to purchase a permit or pass of some kind to drive on the tollway in Slovenia. We did not and got stopped going back to Croatia at the border crossing. They wanted us to pay a 250 Euro fine at that moment. You stop at the border and buy it from a lady behind a counter. She's next to the ATM. We liked having the car, gave us a lot of flexibility.
Thanks John! So do you. Greg and Rona
