Husband and I set off on Friday for our rail trip. We're starting in Poland, flying to Romania and then activating our rail there. We had originally planned to visit Zagreb, Croatia but are not sold on it. We would love to go to Dubrovnik, Croatia but time will not allow. My question, is Zagreb worth paying a visit to or should we use that extra day or two to explore more of Slovenia, Austria or Germany on our way to Amsterdam?
Yesterday, I booked a hotel in Zagreb, the Palace Hotel. We have never been to Zagreb before but are taking the RS Adriatic Tour in June so since the tour does not go there, we figured we might want to check it out for 3 nights. Whatever you decide to do, hope Zagreb is worthwhile. We will also be visiting Germany before flying to Zagreb then taking the train to Ljubljana where the tour begins.
My wife and I visited Zagreb and really enjoyed it. Good information is available in Rick's Croatia/Sovenia Guide. American tourists were a rare commodity.
